Machines

‘Helix Flight Machines’ are a true innovation in the field of sectional helix forming operations. Our company, Helix Flight Manufacturing Machines Ltd (HFMML), specialises in manufacturing these revolutionary machines for forming sectional helices (flights). Screw flights are used in many applications, such as augers, screw conveyors, agitators, marine anchors, screw piles, screw presses, turbines and many other screw flighted products.

With over 20+ years of expertise in the flighting industry and a true global presence, our world leading technology offers versatile and state of the art machines to produce sectional helices of different specifications up to 157 inch OD (4000mm). We provide corporate training in our user friendly HFMML design software to ensure the quick and efficient manufacture of highly accurate flights for many industrial uses. Our technology delivers companies long term defendable competitive advantages in sectional flighting.

BLANK CALCULATION & PROFILE CUTTING

BLANK CALCULATION & PROFILE CUTTING

There are two important steps in the operation of forming a sectional helix: The first is to cut a flat disk (blank) of required material thickness from a sheet of metal. Helices stretch when forming so it is of critical importance to have accurate blanks cut in flat plate, when formed into a 3D helix with meet the finished product specification. Helix Flight’s ‘Blank Cut Design Manager software’ predicts an accurate blank size in just seconds by entering the required finished specifications. Cutting blanks is usually done by laser, plasma or waterjet profile cutting machines. The important aspect is to calculate the size of the blank, which when formed into a sectional helix has an accurate finished size and pitch. There are many variables that may affect the how a helix stretch while forming. These include D,d,P,T and G but also pitch to ID ratio, flange to diameter ratio for example. Our ‘Blank Cut Design Manager software’ predicts blanks accurately from 50mm in Diameter, and 25mm in pitch to 4000mm in didiameter and 4800mm in pitch and up to 50mm in thickness. Once generated, the blanks can be downloaded in a simplified dxf format to send to the profile machines for nesting and profile cutting required quantities. Our BCDM software has many auxiliary features to accommodate more specialist helix blank designs with special features such as tapered perimeters, cone shafts, notches, legs, teeth positions, cant angles and many more.

FORMING HELICES

FORMING HELICES

The second part of the equation involves forming the blank into a helix with our innovative technology. Our state of the art, safe to operate machines, make this process quick, simple, and seamless for the operator. It involves a quick machine setup with tools, forming the helix and checking the fit on the shaft. Any fine adjustments are made quickly and simply in seconds to deal with the specific steel batch of the day. There should be no throw away items BCDM providing the correct blank cut and ability on machine to adjust pitch up or down to meet specification and ensure fit up and flush up between helices. We provide a complete solution, BCDM for blank cut, and our machines for true form helices
